Buried Secrets (Nick Heller) ReviewI'm not kidding about my title: I was disappointed in this book even though it was one of the most riveting thrillers I've ever read, and certainly Joseph Finder's best book to date. The reason for my disappointment is that even though the plot was terrific, there were scores of terrific twists and action scenes, and the characters were fascinating and compelling, this book could not escape its one fatal flaw.
It ended.
I wasn't ready for this to end. I wanted it to keep going. I wanted to find out more about the main character, Nick Heller. This is the 2nd outing with Heller as the main character, and frankly it's not nearly enough. The back story on this guy seems like it could fill quite a few books more, and I want to find out all there is to know.
With short chapters, snappy dialogue, and a breakneck pace that is going to leave all other thrillers in the dust, this book is well worth reading.Buried Secrets (Nick Heller) Overview

A Touch of Deceit (Nick Bracco Series #1) ReviewThis was my first paid Kindle read and I read it almost non stop on my iphone! This was a great read, well paced, interesting characters and plot line. For new author this bodes well, as he is at least as good as any Robert Ludlum or "established' thriller author. This is not just another political thriller, it offers new twists and is a surprising read. Even though I don't necessarily agree with the main protagonists decisions, I was enthralled. I only stopped reading it at 3 am when I knew had to go get some shut-eye before work! Whether the end justifies the means can be, and has been debated for centuries; this book offers a real world, in-your-face situation where in the good guys have to play fast and lose with this issue, to achieve their ends. Somehow Ponzo manages to portray the inner workings of the FBI and other agencies as if he is an insider, or at least very credible. The set pieces are exciting and I can just see this on the big screen making a great movie. It is sort of like a Kindle version of NCIS or NCIS LA two of my favorite shows. It has scenes as good as any in Clear and Present Danger, the president of the USA is likable like Harrison Ford in Executive Decision and the main FBI character is as fascinating and human as Jason Bourne. It has nice surprises both good and bad; the bad guys are not simple stereotypical terrorists with no reason to hate the USA. Ponzo admits to the fact that US policy is a grey area and the consequences are often delayed and bad for us as well as our allies.
I hope Mr Ponzo writes more and more and has a sequel or two planned.

WIRED ReviewI was blown away by the quality of the writing, the sophistication of the storyline, the depth of the characters, and the break-neck pace of the book. It is once of the best books I have read this summer. With WIRED, I believe that Mr. Richards will give the masters of this genre (mystery/thriller) a run for their money. The book has a little bit for everyone - cutting edge science/science fiction, a bit of philosophy about good vs evil, action galore, and even a little romance. To say the least WIRED is a thriller but it is so much more. If you love mystery/thrillers you must read this book - it is a masterpiece.
Kira, a brillant scientist, has come up with a mechanism to enhance brain functioning and also a mechanism to make immortality a possibility. However, Kira has left a trail of death and destruction in her wake (including parents, teachers, brother, and others). David Desh, formerly in Special Forces, is asked by his former Colonel to find Kira and bring her to justice. In doing so he hires Matt a top notch computer hacker. Before Desh and Matt can get to far, Kira kidnaps them to try to convince them she is innocent and that there is a conspiracy in place to get to her discoveries. Who is telling the truth and who are the good guys/bad guys-you need to read the book to find out.WIRED Overview"A keep-you-up-all-night thriller. Intense action, mind-blowing concepts, & breathtaking twists. Enjoy the ride." --Boyd Morrison, bestselling author of THE VAULT.Kira Miller is a brilliant genetic engineer who discovers how to temporarily achieve savant-like capabilities in all areas of thought and creativity. But what if this transcendent level of intelligence brings with it a ruthless megalomania? David Desh left the special forces after his team was brutally butchered in Iran. Now he has been reactivated for one last mission: find Kira Miller, the enigmatic genius behind a bioterror plot that threatens millions. But when Desh learns that the bioterror plot is just the tip of the iceberg, he is thrust into a byzantine maze of deception and intrigue, and he becomes a key player in a deadly game he can't begin to understand. A game that is certain to have a dramatic impact on the future course of human history. . .WIRED is a smart thriller crammed with breakneck action, mind-expanding science, and intriguing concepts readers will be contemplating long after they've read the last page.
